This question is easily answered with a brief glimpse out over the lake…The observer might not immediately perceive a lot “going on” on the lake – but this impression can be deceptive.

It will be very difficult to find just one point of interest here in Ausseerland. There are simply too many worthwhile places to visit! One of the most popular combinations with our boat trip is to visit Loser in Altaussee, one of the most stunning Mountains in the region. Despite implications of the name, the views from the top of this mountain are definitely a “winner”!
There is (especially in the Ausseerland region) no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong attitude — and a boat trip on Lake Grundlsee is fortunately possible in (almost) any weather condition! If you come to Bad Aussee and are looking for an excursion destination independent of the weather, then the Kammerhof Museum is highly recommended.
Not a fan of museums? No problem at all!
The Altaussee Salt Mine is at constant temperature all year round — and those who don’t fall into the underground salt lake are guaranteed to stay dry! The “Salzwelten” (The Salt World) mines are certainly one of the most spectacular excursion destinations in Ausseerland.https://www.salzwelten.at/de/altaussee/bergwerk/
